CAR Installs Solar Panels in Educational Institutions in Cundinamarca

The Cundinamarca Regional Autonomous Corporation (CAR) has begun the strategic deployment of solar panels in twelve key educational institutions, spread across the municipalities of Girardot, Ubaté and Cota. This project, beyond its innovative nature, is established as a crucial strategy in the battle against climate change, evidencing the change towards clean and renewable energy sources.

The project, which is located at the heart of the region’s environmental strategy, aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gases, aiming for an estimated 60% reduction in CO2 emissions linked to traditional energy consumption. This initiative not only reflects technological advancement, but also a firm commitment to protecting the environment and the health of the planet.

The selection of the twelve educational institutions was carried out with a criterion of maximum priority, distributing them into two for Girardot, four for Ubaté and six for Cota, strategic areas for positive environmental impact and energy efficiency. These strategic locations were chosen to maximize the benefits of this project both in the educational community and in the environment.

The CAR and its directors, headed by Alfred Ignacio Ballesteros and Ángela Martínez, have highlighted the multiple benefits that come with the installation of these photovoltaic systems. Among them, the following stand out:

1. An approximate 60% reduction in CO2 emissions, significantly contributing to efforts for cleaner air.

2. A notable decrease in public spending related to the supply of energy in schools, resulting in more resources for education.

3. Alignment with the objectives of the 2050 strategy for reducing emissions and commitment to international goals against climate change.

This movement towards solar energy not only shows a change in the energy paradigm but also establishes an educational commitment, demonstrating to new generations the importance and viability of renewable energies. Furthermore, this project is part of a broader vision of sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

The installation of these photovoltaic systems, which is already in its final phase, not only places the Cundinamarca region on the map of energy innovation but also strengthens the role of the educational community as a key actor in the transition towards sustainability. The CAR, with this project, reaffirms its commitment not only to the environment but also to a greener future for future generations.
