The twentieth year of the traditional A Todo Trigo congress, which addresses the different aspects of winter cereals that are currently beginning to be planted in Argentina, began this morning with harsh criticism of agricultural policies that the different national governments have been supporting over two decades.

At the opening ceremony, Fernando Rivara, the president of the Federation of Grain Collectors, the organizers of the meeting, expressed his exhaustion at the “absurd measures“related to wheat such as export duties and quotas, the balance sheet and trusts such as FETA.

“In these 20 years, under the pretext of protecting the Argentine table, we have experienced the most absurd measures. Its result was an Argentinian table destroyed by inflationwhile our productions and exports plummeted“Rivara shot in front of the Secretary of Bioeconomy of the Nation, Fernando Vilella, when opening All Wheat 2024the congress that takes place this May 9 and 10 in Mar del Plata, bringing together about 2,000 people.

Firmly, and on behalf of Argentine agriculture, the leader stressed: “Mr. President, honorable governors, honorable mayors:In the countryside there is no money. It’s over, look away!”.

The leader called for “returning to normal parameters to stabilize the economy” as the only way for growth. And, despite the claim, he indicated that since the first quarter of the year there has been an improvement in the wheat input/output ratio.

“Despite this recent positive change in prices, a look towards the future in terms of the sustained growth of our economy, without external restrictions, forces us to work on the elimination of export duties on wheat”, he remarked.
