He former special manager for La Guajira, Luis Gómez Pimienta, has made strong statements about the management of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD)warning President Petro from last november sabout the irregularities present in the management of the community pots and tank trucks.

“I want to specify one thing,” Gómez Pimienta began. “The management was an entity granted by the president to coordinate all the actions of the entities triggered by sentence 302, but with certain characteristics, Management had no resources, no payroll, and no audit follow-up functions.“.

The former special manager highlighted the lack of a permanent institutional presence in the affected areass, emphasizing the need for coordinated action between traditional authorities and public institutions at the national, regional and local levels, which, according to him, was not being carried out effectively.

“Initially, on November 6, I asked the president not to renew my contract, which was until December 31,” recalled Gómez Pimienta. “However, they called me to Bogotá and after that, in a week of crisis, 5 children died in a chain. Dr. Carlos Ramón González, from Dapre, called me to ask me what was happening. I sent him the letter of December 20 that everyone knows.”.

In said letter, Gómez Pimienta expressed his concerns about the lack of coordination between different public institutions, as well as his perception that the execution of the resources destined for La Guajira was being diverted towards political or personal purposes.
