Since 1994, the Sancti Spíritus Architecture and Engineering Projects Company (EPAISS) has provided high-quality technical-professional projection, design, engineering, consulting and topography services for the entire province. 30 years of uninterrupted work have passed, where the entity and its group have stood out for their experience, professionalism, comprehensiveness of services and systematic compliance with their production plans.

For its director, engineer Carlos Bernal Bada, the continuous improvement of the institution and its workers is essential, which is why they constantly bet on the creativity, innovation, efficiency and professionalism of their services, to deliver to clients jobs and proposals that meet the established standards.

The company is made up of two project groups: one for Surveying, another for Technical Services and a Quality department. This allows you to organize work by areas, to be more effective and adjust to the needs of your clients.

The Health, Education, Housing and Tourism sectors in the province have been its most frequent clients for several years. They also work in various social works to satisfy the needs of the population, one of their main premises.

This entity has started 2024 intensely, loaded with projects, something that, far from worrying its workers, commits them to their completion and challenges them to work on time without sacrificing the quality of services.

ARCHITECTURE AND ENGINEERING AND HEALTH: INDISOLUABLE LINK

Since 2004, in order to support the Battle of Ideas, the company begins to work on the remodeling of a large part of the works in the Health sector in the province, a particularity that has not changed at present. Among the best-known projects are the remodeling of different areas and services of the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial General Hospital, the Provincial Home for the Elderly, the Trinidad International Clinic and the hospital of the same municipality; The latter also included Pediatric services and the Hemodialysis Room, as well as a large part of the projects for the dental clinics, polyclinics and rehabilitation rooms in the rest of the territory.

Many of these projects were carried out by the main architectural specialist of the EPAISS, Olga Lidia Obregón Pentón, who still continues to design plans for the Health sector, on the eve of the celebration of the new anniversary of the fourth town of Cuba.

“To celebrate the 510th birthday of Sancti Spíritus, the company worked on the remodeling project of the surgical unit of the Provincial Pediatric Hospital. This project includes its capital remodeling, which includes the rehabilitation of all electrical and plumbing installations, coatings and waterproofing of the roof. Upon completion of the work, the center will have four operating rooms, one of them dedicated to outpatient surgery. It is already in the completion stage,” he confirms to Escambrayarchitect Olga Obregón.

The ingenuity of the EPAISS is also present in the projects for the children’s houses.

COMMITTED TO EDUCATION AND HOUSING

Two sectors appear as essential clients for the EPAISS. Both have requested social projects from the company, a request that has been prioritized due to the needs of the population. Among the main projects are different school and administrative centers, as well as urbanizations in the province.

Looking to 2024, the Sancti Spiritus project company is working on the remodeling of the IPVCE Eusebio Olivera Rodríguez, the IPU Marcelo Salado and children’s house projects for different entities in Sancti Spíritus.

“Children’s houses are places created in different work centers to care for and educate the children of working parents from those places and other children who live in the areas where they are located, an initiative well received by parents and in which Our company has been working for a few months,” declares engineer Eliettez Zayas, head of one of the project groups.

Meanwhile, in the case of the IPVCE, work is being done in the kitchen and teaching buildings, as well as the area intended for the preparation of competition students. Some premises are already in the demolition stage and others in the project phase.

Regarding the housing sector, the EPAISS has worked assiduously with the Electric Company to provide housing to its workers and this year the Sergio Soto de Cabaiguán refinery requested an urbanization composed of two-story homes with the same objective; without forgetting the one located in Guasimal, a project with a marked social projection.

Engineer Roney Arrieta Bernal, head of the other project group, declares exclusively for Escambray that “the Guasimal urbanization is part of the Life Task. Its objective is to transport citizens who are usually affected by meteorological phenomena in the areas of Tunas de Zaza and El Médano. This project includes a first stage designed to deliver 52 homes and a second to reach 120, in addition to guaranteeing their comfort and quality.”

OTHER AMBITIOUS PROJECTS IN THE SIGHT

The Tourism sector throughout these years has been a recurring client of the EPAISS. Precisely, they worked with them on the construction of the Meliá Trinidad Hotel, which has already been in operation for a few months.

“That project was a collaboration between our company, DINVAI, and the Cuban-Italian joint company TOMAS. It was a team effort, where mutual cooperation and effort led to the successful completion of the project,” says engineer Eliettez Zayas.

In addition, they are working on the conceptual ideas and preliminary projects of the Plaza hotels, in the municipality of Sancti Spíritus and, Costa del Sol, in Trinidad.

There are also other projects for the future such as the Trinidad Aqueduct and Sewer Control Center, as well as its socio-administrative building. This project is in conjunction with Hydraulic Resources and seeks to solve the water supply problem in that municipality in order to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. In addition to the cattle slaughterhouse in the city of Yayabo, which is in process and will be located in the Chambelón area; Its objective is to enable the space to work with 300 cattle daily.

Another interesting project is the structural design of the bridge that is part of Infinite Journey, located in the municipality of Taguasco.

“It is one of the distinguished works of the renowned visual artist Wilfredo Prieto. The bridge will be made life-size based on a model by the artist, Ramón I. Collera, who is our civil engineer in charge of the work,” emphasizes Javier Castillo Rodríguez, head of Operations at the EPAISS.

Without a doubt, a company that pursues quality and compliance with its production plans as its maxims, as well as its social work and desire to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the people of Sancti Spiritus. Without forgetting its commitment to the preservation of heritage places and buildings, it usually opts for designs that, while remaining innovative, take care of the colonial charm of the town of Yayabo.

For this reason, and on the occasion of the celebration of his 30th birthday, it is valid to recognize his work, the commitment and good work of his group to continue side by side building the future of Sancti Spíritus.
