There is maximum alert in Antioquia due to the outbreak of the conflict in the northeast of the department: the Gulf Clan and the National Liberation Army (ELN) They face blood again and fire in the middle of the civilian population. According to preliminary reports, there would be more than a dozen dead and several injured.

On this occasion, the center of confrontation is the mountains of the municipality of Remedios. In images circulating on social networks, which are subject to verification by military units, corpses can be seen lying on the roads with alarming violent marks.

Both groups are fighting for territorial control: the millionaire profits from the illicit exploitation of mining deposits, the large-scale production of narcotics and the geographical location of the territory, are the objectives that have historically had them in intense confrontations.

Governor Andrés Julián Rendón expressed concern about the situation in that subregion of the department. He made this known recently, warning that the preliminary information would make it clear that the fatal victims would be the same members of the criminal organizations.

“Antioqueños, inhabitants of the municipality of Remedios alert us about the escalation of clashes between the criminal groups of the Clan del Golfo and the ELN that would leave several dead, apparently, of the same illegals,” reads in a publication he made on his X account.

The National Army and the Police validated that in the northeast there is fighting between the structures, but they have not been able to establish the number of murders due to the critical security conditions. There is something paradoxical there: the FARC dissidents of alias Iván Mordisco would be supporting the objectives of the ELN, according to military sources.

The departmental leader commented that he will travel this Thursday morning to Remedios to hold a security council and address the concerns of the civilian population, which is in the midst of the bullets and the iron interests of the armed groups, mainly the fever for gold and metals.

“We call on the Army and the Police to decisively confront these expressions of violence and protect the civilian population. I will travel first thing in the morning to Remedios to, on the ground, work with civil, military and police authorities. We will be where the people of Antioquia need us,” concluded Governor Rendón.

Hours before this alert, the same administration expressed concern about the forced recruitment of minors, as they are being pressured to leave the classrooms and put on the uniform of illegal structures that are in peace talks with the national government. .

The most recent case occurred in the municipality of Briceño, where there is a strong presence of the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia and the Central General Staff of the FARC. those who have control in the rural area. This was reported by the Secretary of Security and Justice of Antioquia, Luis Eduardo Martínez.

“At the Security Secretariat we have also received complaints about situations that have been occurring in the territory, about the constant violations of these illegal groups that affect the civilian population,” said the official. The alarms are on in the north, northeast, Bajo Cauca, west and Urabá.
