Samsung Colombia announces the opening of the “Solve For Tomorrow 2024” program – Samsung Newsroom Colombia

The eighth version of the program invites young people from grades 8 to 11, or 12 where applicable, from public institutions to propose projects to benefit their communities.

Samsung Colombia opens registration for the eighth version of the Solve For Tomorrow program, an initiative that invites school students and public educational institutions, between 13 and 19 years of age, and who are studying between 8 and 11 grade or 12 if applicable , so that they develop ideas that provide solutions to the problems of their communities supported by technology, science, engineering and mathematics.

The eighth edition, which aims to promote the entrepreneurial spirit of students, help reinforce knowledge in various skills for the 21st century, such as creative thinking, assertive communication, problem solving, office skills and the 4-way learning scheme. C’s: creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking.

“We are excited about this new version of Solve for Tomorrow in the country, in which we will maintain the firm objective of enhancing the creative and innovative thinking of students and giving them the opportunity to develop solutions to pressing difficulties in their communities, through STEM. and the Design Thinking methodology,” highlights Iván Laverde, Corporate Citizenship Manager at Samsung Colombia.

The proposals participating in Solve for Tomorrow must make use of the Design Thinking methodology, as the central axis of the process, and focus on projects oriented towards sustainability, understanding and addressing the negative environmental and social impacts generated by human activities, and creating innovative solutions that allow better management of natural resources, a reduction in environmental impact and an improvement in people’s quality of life.

Each team must be made up of between two and four students, belonging to the same institution, and must be supported by a teacher who is in charge of registering and being responsible for the project. If they are minors, the institution must obtain permission from their parents or guardians to be able to participate in the program.

Projects must be registered in www.samsung.com/co/campaign/solvefortomorrow/, starting May 23, where an initial evaluation of the proposal will be carried out. During this stage, specialized training for teachers will be carried out.

The teams that make up the 50 selected projects will receive a virtual mentoring session in Design Thinking from Samsung. Subsequently, they will present a video and from there 5 projects will be selected, which will receive new mentoring to be able to evolve their proposal and have better tools to develop and sustain it.

Solve for Tomorrow has impacted the lives of thousands of young Latin Americans in a transformative way. More than 311 thousand students have had the opportunity to bring projects to life with the potential to impact their communities, with the support of more than 41 thousand teachers, in more than 22 thousand public schools in the region.
