The Chilean Investigative Police (PDI) through the Iquique Robbery Investigative Brigade, within the framework of “Operation Foxtrot”, in coordination with the UACFI Unit of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, managed to arrest in the city of Calama and in the commune of Alto Hospicio to two members of a criminal gang dedicated to the crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation. These individuals, both of Chilean nationality and of legal age, have been linked to a series of crimes that occurred in the commune of Alto Hospicio.

The investigation carried out by the Detectives made it possible to establish the responsibility of the detainees in at least three incidents that occurred in the months of February, March and April of this year. The criminal acts, perpetrated in the early morning hours, involved violent assaults on warehouses located in Tomas del El Boro and La Pampa. In all the events, the accused posed as Carabineros members, dressed in clothing and equipment to intimidate their victims.

During the search of a home located in Alto Hospicio, investigators seized two service plates, five kepis and a reflective vest, all of them alluding to Carabineros, as well as a security bracelet, a compressed air pistol, a retractable baton and ten cellphones. Plus 24 small bags with a total of 24.02 grams of ketamine powder.

The detainees will go to detention control tomorrow at the Alto Hospicio Guarantee Court.
