On May 27 in Coyhaique, the Piedra del Indio walkway will be officially opened, a sector that remained closed for more than 3 years and will link the semi-rural area of ​​Panguilemu with the urban sector of the regional capital.

In a joint effort by the Ministry of Public Works, the Regional Government and the Municipality of Coyhaique, an investment of more than 11 million pesos was made that allowed the execution of the project.

The mayor of Coyhaique, Carlos Gatica, commented on the investment.

“Precisely (investment) today allows us to have this opening, which is going to help significantly. In addition, we thinned and cleaned the entire sector, to improve visibility and not have any risk of accidents in the place,” said the highest communal authority.

The municipality reported that the bridge will soon be illuminated and traffic lights on both sides of the bridge to provide greater traffic flow.

The governor of Aysén, Andrea Macías, spoke about the operation of the structure.

“Tell users that the bridge will be in permanent operation on Monday from 3:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m., operation will be unidirectional to avoid congestion.” Macías clarified.
