Seventy plans that account for the urbanization process of Valparaíso since 1840, donated by the architect Giulietta Fadda to the Faculty of Architecture, will be included in a process of technical advice and diagnosis for its conservation through a call awarded at the National Center for Conservation and Restoration (CNCR), in the Paper Documents line.

To begin this process, CNCR professional Vianka Hurtuvia met with the dean of Architecture, Alejandro Witt; the Design academic, Ángela Herrera, and the Postgraduate coordinator of the dean’s office, Romina Araya.

Professor Ángela Herrera pointed out that “these are plans that show the urbanization process of Valparaíso, in different types of paper material support, some in a very weak state of conservation. This collection is already digitized in collaboration with the School of Design archive, it underwent a mechanical cleaning process, but systematization is still missing. With this advice we are going to generate professional guidelines on how to preserve these plans, which are of great importance as they are a unique document.”

Regarding the technical advice, the academic stated that “it will be very relevant for the conservation and treatment processes, which adds to the systematic work that the UV is doing to generate regulations and protocols for the conservation of documents.”

In this sense, the academic said that on the heritage.uv.cl website “you can now make visible collections that are preserved in the different archives of the UV, among which are the Textile Conservation Center, the History of the Architect Myriam Waisberg and the Vascular Plant Herbarium of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
