Traveling to Russia from Cuba will be more difficult: new restrictions!

The news of deportations of Cubans from Russia does not stop, and this week, the new restrictions from the Moscow government confirmed fears that it will be increasingly difficult to travel to Russia from Cuba. Details below.

This weekend, international media echoed that the new immigration measures of the Russian government of Vladimir Putin would affect Cubans, whose news of deportations is becoming common in the press of that country.

As many know, Cuban travelers do not need a visa for a stay of less than 90 days, and that is why that country became the epicenter, for many years, of shopping tourism from the island. Then it became a channel, so that some could try from there to access countries in the Schengen area, such as Poland, to reach Spain, Italy or Germany.

As of June 1, Russia adopted more restrictions, which will make the movement of Cubans and other migrants to the Eurasian nation more difficult.

The Russian Ministry of the Interior implemented new immigration regulations that will impact Cuban citizens visiting the country, among others. The most relevant measure establishes a limit of 90 days for temporary stay in Russia during a calendar year.

What do these new restrictions mean? Cubans who travel to Russia for tourism, business or family visits may not stay in the country for more than 90 consecutive days within the same calendar year.

Furthermore, starting on the 91st day, Cuban citizens will be obliged to regularize their immigration status or leave Russian territory.

In this regard, the Russian authorities emphasized that these measures seek to strengthen immigration control and combat the irregular stay of foreigners in the country, especially after the terrorist attack they suffered in Moscow.

We recommend that Cuban travelers have the necessary documentation to demonstrate the reasons for the visit and the means of support during their stay in Russia, even for purchases such as “mules” in Moscow.
