The topic presented was “Workplace harassment in the new Law 21,643”.

The sixth session of the Trade Union School 2024 of the School of Law of the University of Valparaíso was held, in which Tania Rojas, professor at the University of Valparaíso and lawyer at the Institute of Labor Security, and Felipe Malgüe, academic of the University of Chile. The day was titled “Workplace harassment in the new Law 21,643”, and was moderated by Ignacio Valdebenito, UV student and member of the Union School.

In her presentation, Tania Rojas made a description of the new Law on Sexual Harassment, Labor and Violence at Work (Karin Law), from the perspective of ILO Convention 190, seeing the pros and cons of this legislation in relation to it. In addition, she made reference to the new Gender Violence Law, which is about to be enacted.

For his part, Felipe Malgüe spoke about the investigation and sanction procedure for workplace harassment, detailing its main characteristics and key points.

The Trade Union School is an initiative organized by students of the Law School in coordination with the Department of Labor and Social Security Law, which seeks to offer a free and excellent training space for union leaders and workers interested in training in the subject. which resumed its activities after its suspension due to the pandemic.

The next session of the Union School will take place this Wednesday, June 5, from 6:00 p.m., in the Aula Magna Victorio Pescio Vargas of the Faculty of Law, located at Avenida Errázuriz 2120, Valparaíso. The speakers will be Aída Chacón, national director of the Occupational Safety Institute, and Dagmar Salazar, professor at the University of Valparaíso. In the instance, they will refer to the topic “Safety and health at work: unemployment insurance, medical leave and work accidents.”
