This Monday the path that the Argentine teams must follow in the 2024 Copa Sudamericana in the final phase of the second most important competition on the continent was known.
In the first instance, the playoff matches must be played, which will be played immediately after the Copa América that will take place in the United States in June.
In this qualifying stage for the round of 16, the eight seconds from each group (among which is Boca Juniors) will play a round-trip key against the third parties from each group of the Copa Libertadores. They will be ordered according to the points obtained in brackets named from A to H: thus, the second with the most points in the Sudamericana will play against the third in Libertadores with the fewest points.
So far, Boca Juniors will be in playoff E and will play against Libertad of Paraguay. But there are still group matches for Gremio and Internacional de Porto Alegre to be played in the Copa Libertadores and the Sudamericana, respectively, which were suspended due to the floods in Brazil, so the position of Boca and the other teams may vary when they finish their stake. The pending matches will be played this week.
Meanwhile, Belgrano, Racing and Lanús qualified directly to the round of 16 of the Sudamericana for having led their respective groups. The Córdoba team will face the winner of Playoff B, the Avellaneda team will face the winner of Playoff H and “el Granate” will play against the winner of Playoff F, in which “Xeneize” could fall.
