In May 1934 Antonio Guiteras founded the Young Cuba organization.
This new organization had a better structure and a definitely anti-imperialist program. In his introduction, he said this:
The anti-imperialist creed is subscribed as essential, in the light of which a genuinely Cuban foreign and internal policy will be developed. And since the freedom of Cuba must mean the integral independence of its economy, the national structure will be determined by the forces of production in whose hands sovereignty is concentrated, so that political power is a faithful reflection of economic power.
Through Young Cuba, Guiteras was organizing an insurrectional project, with an expedition that was being prepared in Mexico by some of his companions exiled there.
On May 8, 1935, Guiteras and the Venezuelan Carlos Aponte were preparing to leave Cuba for Mexico to join the group of revolutionaries working there, when they were ambushed in El Morrillo, Matanzas province, where they were murdered.
Pablo de la Torriente Brau said of Guiteras that he was a man of the revolution, who suffered like few others the hot anguish of the revolution.
According to Pablo, Guiteras had the secret of faith in final victory.
