The Reiteration Law was discussed in the City Legislature by the Justice Commission in conjunction with the Constitutional Affairs Commission. This bill was presented by the head of Government, Jorge Macri.


In the City Legislature, the Justice Commission met together with the Constitutional Affairs Commission, where it was decided to move forward with the Reiterance project in the next session.

During the meeting, the possibility was addressed that the Courts should notify the National Directorate of Migration when convictions are handed down to foreigners. In addition, the circumstances that determine the risk of escape for preventive detention include the repetition of a crime and define conditions for urgent searches for the security forces, in situations of emergency or flagrante delicto, which must contemplate immediate communication to the judge and the fiscal.

Reiterance is a project presented by the head of Government, Jorge Macri, who started a debate on the topic that today has 4 other proposals presented by different deputies. The objective is to modify the Criminal Procedure Code so that a person who commits a crime again goes through the process in jail, instead of doing so in freedom. The work in committee took several days of debate, with a process that included the visit of the Buenos Aires Minister of Justice, Gabino Tapia, along with his team, and the attendance of different experts who gave their opinions on different aspects of the topic, in order to achieve a text. consolidated to be debated in the next session.

The deputies who are members of both commissions participated in the meetings, the first vice president of the Legislature, Matías López, the vice presidents of Justice, Claudia Neira (Union por la Patria) and Gimena Villafruela (Vamos por Más) and the president of the Affairs Commission Constitutional, Hernan Reyes (Let’s go for more).

The agenda also included the modifications to Law 7 to adapt the nomenclature of judicial bodies to their current functions, better reflecting the competencies and specializations developed. Based on this, the Chamber of Cassation and Appeals in Criminal, Juvenile Criminal, Contravention and Misdemeanors is added, article 7 of Law 7. This change responds to practical and jurisprudential needs, and aligns the judicial structure with the resolutions of the Council of the Judiciary and the Criminal Procedure Code.

At the joint meeting of the Constitutional Affairs and Budget, Treasury, Financial Administration and Tax Policy commissions, which discussed two files related to the City’s statistical system, under the chairmanship of the heads of both commissions Hernán Reyes and Paola Michielotto (VxM). A project was undertaken so that all statistical data produced by the City become public, both for use and dissemination, institutionalizing the management of the City’s public statistics. It is a guideline for the entire country since there is no independent, self-sufficient and autonomous institute for the management of public statistics like the one proposed in the City. So it will become public policy.

Finally, the joint meeting of the Tourism and Sports and Budget, Treasury, Financial Administration and Tax Policy commissions was held to discuss files related to the free use of Banco Ciudad accounts for neighborhood clubs in the City of Buenos Aires. . The proposal received a single dispatch and will be discussed in the Sessions venue and the meeting was chaired by deputies Maia Daer (UxP) and Paola Michielotto (VxM), presidents of both commissions.
