The Atlantic Guilds They asked the national government to carry out maintenance on the bridges, located in Cordialidad and Carrera 46 with Avenida Circunvalar, to avoid a tragedy similar to the one recorded last Friday on the 30th Street bridge, where a section collapsed and left four people dead and three injured.

This was confirmed by the president of Intergremial Atlántico, Efraín Cepeda Tarud, pointing out that the bridges on the ring road at the height of Cordialidad and the one on Olaya Herrera Avenue that connects with Puerto Colombia, are outside of concessions.

The union leader called on Send to guarantee resources and permanent surveillance of these structures, given the lack of maintenance due to being outside the Vía al Mar concessions and Caribbean Highways.

“This shows the importance of the Ministry carrying out an inspection and structural study of the Simón Bolívar bridge, as well as other bridges on Circunvalar Avenue, such as the Cordialidad bridges, which are in poor condition, and the of Carrera 46. They are two bridges that are in charge of the nation and it would be worth it for the Ministry to do what is pertinent and avoid having a similar incident,” he said.

Regarding the accident on the 30th Street bridge, Cepeda recalled that since 2020, communications were sent to the Government of that time expressing their concerns about the risk posed by the structure outside of a concession.

The secretary of Health of Soledad, Edison Barreraasked the authorities to investigate whether the people who were injured when their vehicles fell into the crater that opened on the 30th Street bridge were victims of the so-called “walk of death.”

Four people were taken in ambulances, two of them to the Campbell clinic, located about 15 minutes away from the scene of the emergency, and the other two patients to the Centro clinic, more than 30 minutes away by vehicle.

Let us remember that one of the people transferred to the care center, Omar Martínez Solis65, became the fourth fatal victim of the tragedy.
