Raffaella Carrá’s song resurfaces from the web as a remix called “Pedro, pedro, pedro” created by DJ Jaxomy. However, the lyrics of that popular song recall the story of a Santa Fe tourist guide who accompanied the musical star through the most beautiful and emblematic places of our city. But, as in every story, there is always a beginning.

On Wednesday, October 17, 1979, he performed in the city of Santa Fe. It was before about 8 thousand people on the soccer field of the Club Atlético Unión. El Litoral covered that event and the next day reported that the woman changed 16 models of dresses and completed the stage with nine dancers.

The chronicle of those years expressed: “It only took a moment for that rare magnetism, that sympathy and that overflowing grace that distinguishes Raffaella Carrá to capture the audience. For an hour and fifteen minutes, the performer sang, danced, contorted with his companions.”

After the recital, the Italian gave a press conference from the central hotel where she was staying. El Litoral also covered that meeting. “Without apparent fatigue, she answered all the questions with a verbal generosity that exceeded the answer, providing them with nuances, anecdotes, metaphors and even some theatrical poses to clarify some concepts,” the evening newspaper reported.

At the press conference, Carrá told details about the show, his tour around the country and the upcoming films he had in the pipeline at that time. “For many, the evening must have had something unforgettable. Because they saw this star, this professional aware of his job and his responsibility in the fullness of his heyday,” the chronicle reflected.

“Perhaps, when his name is barely a reference in time, when we only hear his voice and his songs thanks to some old recording that we can keep, we will remember that in his fifteenth hour of splendor, when he was at the pinnacle of fame , Raffaella Carrá was in our city”, El Litoral closed in 1979.

Raffaella Carrá, her early years

She was born Raffaella Maria Roberta Pelloni in Bologna, on June 18, 1943. At the age of eight she began taking classes at the National Dance Academy and felt like she was reborn. She heard someone tell her: “Now you are being born.” She has no memories prior to that moment. She began her professional career at the age of nine, after being chosen for a small role in the Mario Bonnard film “Tormento del passato”, in which she played the sensitive Graciela. Six years later she enrolled at the Rome Film Institute to train as a dancer.

In 1970 she attended as a guest the program “Io, Agate e tu” by Nino Ferrer. Thanks to this appearance of hers, RAI (Italian public television) offered her to present the night show “Canzonissima 70”. She repeated her success with “Canzonissima 71’” and “Canzonissima 74”, where she made her song “Ma che musica maestro” popular. In 1975 she conquered Spain with her performance in the program “Ladies and Gentlemen!” Spanish television offered her, and she accepted, to present “The Time of Raffaella Carrà.”

Finally in 1978, Raffaella came to America for the first time, where she achieved much success.
