Havana, June 4 (EFE).- The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, asked this Tuesday for greater coordination among the members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to develop “innovative and attractive” joint projects.

Marrero, who spoke virtually at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held in Belarus, commented that “a more systematic and effective relationship between the ministries and sectoral organizations of the Commission and the member and observer states is essential.”

“In the sphere of agriculture and agribusiness there are opportunities that we have been working on with Belarusian partners for years. The businesses that we manage to develop will also pay taxes on the export of Cuban products to the member countries of the EAEU,” he added.

Since 2020, Cuba has been an observer of this regional economic organization created in 2014 and made up of Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan also plays the role of observer.

The head of the Cuban Government said that having greater coordination will allow “promoting foreign investment for the development of animal production, such as chicken, cattle, pork, as well as citrus, fruit trees, sugar, cocoa and coffee.”

Marrero reiterated that “the Cuban Government attaches great importance to economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations with the UEE and its member states, based on the historical relations that unite us.” EFE
