Wanted to Know, a new album by Silvio Rodríguez.

After 60 years of artistic life, and thirty albums, it seems that The Aprendiz had already written about everything that could be written, that there was no longer anything new to capture to return to the public in the form of a lyre. However, a new album, about to be released this June 7, generates in Silvio Rodríguez’s followers all the expectations that would be expected, when it comes to the poet’s virtuosity.

The album, which is called I Wanted to Know, is a production recorded between 2019 and 2024 at oja Studios, an institution promoted by the artist himself. The official launch will be on digital platforms on the aforementioned date, but two of its singles are already in the hands of the public: I wanted to know and América.

In the case of I wanted to know, it is a song written in August 2015, which connects with wisdom, knowledge and our concerns as human beings, feelings already recognized in the musician’s lyrics, and which led him to adopt his pseudonym. of Apprentice. América, for his part, is a song written under the memory of a girl who, according to the artist commented on her Instagram social network account, she lived near 23rd Avenue in Vedado, and was very beautiful and coveted

For this album, the performer has the accompaniment of some of the great figures of contemporary music in the country; Jorge Aragón; Frank Fernández, with the piano on the song Ángel Ciego; Niurka González on flutes, clarinets and choirs; Oliver Valdés (drums and percussion); Emilio Vega (vibraphone and congas) and many more, who will give the touch of excellence to the singer-songwriter’s verses.
