On World Environment Day, the first regionalization meeting of Ley Yolanda was held

The Environment Secretariat held the first regional environmental meeting in the northern region. Together with local governments, the regional Yolanda Law material for 2025 is beginning to be prepared.

On World Environment Day, the Secretary of Environment – dependent on the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources – held her first regionalization meeting of Yolanda Law in Chos Malal.

The effective implementation of said law, with a regional perspective, is part of the secretary’s agenda towards the construction of a sustainable development model. Under this line of work, the secretariat has planned the first meetings to promote the Law and its most relevant aspects.

At this first meeting, the towns of: Chos Malal, Andacollo, Loncopué, El Cholar, El Huecú, Huinganco, Las Ovejas, Los Miches, Taquimilán, Tricao Malal, Caviahue were present through their mayors and environmental teams. Copahue, Chorriaca, Coyuco Cochico, Guañacos, Manzano Amargo, Varvarco, Villa del Nahueve and Villa Curi Leuvú.

These regional meetings offer a platform to disseminate the principles and objectives of the law and a space for co-construction of regional modules, as well as an area to raise awareness among participants about the importance of environmental awareness. The interaction between public officials from the three branches of government, environmental representatives and representatives of civil society contributes to strengthening inter-institutional collaboration and promoting a comprehensive approach to environmental management.

In this sense, Santiago Nogueira, Secretary of Environment of the province, expressed: “we wanted to start the regionalization meetings in the north and do it on World Environment Day to also crystallize our proposal for articulation work and joint and decentralized work with the local governments. “We are very happy for the support of all the mayors to promote environmental training throughout the province,” he stated.

It should be noted that the secretariat reported that the next regional Environment meeting will be held in the month of June in the Limay Medio region.
