The National Weather Service issued a alert for the advent of a cyclone extratropical that will arrive from the Pacific and will impact the Mountain range of the Andes. The situation will affect the province of Neuquén and part of Mendoza, after having a strong impact on southern Chile.
While heavy rains are expected in the trans-Andean country that could cause flooding, in Neuquén, alerts of different levels were declared in a large part of the province. In addition, the mountain area in the south of the province of Mendoza will be affected by the alert yellow with moderate intensity or locally heavy rainfall that will remain in the range of 15 to 40 millimeters, and the probability of snowfall is not ruled out.
Much of the province of Neuquén will be affected by the same alert yellow, while to the south, in the Lakes Region, the alert orange. Heavy rainfall and rainfall that will accumulate between 40 and 70 millimeters are estimated there, which may be exceeded occasionally, while in the highest sectors there could be snowfall.
In the mountainous area there will be heavy and persistent rains that could range between 70 and 90 millimeters during the period in which the alert. That area will be where the greatest impact of the cyclone in Argentina, heavy snowfall may occur not in the highest sectors of the Mountain range.
