CUBA SUPPORTS DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT AND ARMED GROUP OF COLOMBIA

Cuba declared its support for the dialogue between the Government of Colombia and the Second Marquetalia, which will set up a negotiating table in Caracas, Venezuela, on the 24th. In X, the member of the Political Bureau of the Party and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla welcomed the agreements reached for that dialogue, and wrote: “Invited by the parties, Cuba was represented and will act as one of the guarantors of this process for peace in Colombia.” (International Editorial)

POPE FRANCIS APPOINTS NEW NUNCIO IN CUBA

Pope Francis appointed the titular archbishop of Skálholt, Monsignor Antoine Camilleri, as apostolic nuncio to Cuba. The 58-year-old priest currently holds that position in Ethiopia, as well as representing the Holy See before the African Union and as an apostolic delegate in Somalia. The monsignor was born in Sliema, Malta, on August 20, 1965, he has been a priest since 1991 and has a degree in Jurisprudence and Canon Law. Camilleri also worked in the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State, and was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as undersecretary. (PL)

RUSSIA PROMOTES DE-DOLLARIZATION WITH LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES

At the 27th International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg, the director of the Latin American Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Schetinin, highlighted that there is progress in the negotiations on the de-dollarization of trade between the countries of Latin America and Russia. Moscow is carrying out talks on the transition towards alternative forms of transactions with Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela and the member countries of the BRICS, the diplomat specified. ARGENTINE PRESIDENT THREATENS TO VETO RETIREMENT REFORM

After the approval in the Chamber of Deputies of an update of the retirement formula, the Argentine president, Javier Milei, attacked the legislators, and assured that he will use the veto if necessary.
