500 short stories participate in the Florentino Martínez contest

Last Friday, Bodegas Florentino Martínez (Cordovín) presented the prizes for the III Short Story Contest, an initiative that included the participation of 500 applicants from all over Spain, but also from several Spanish-speaking countries on the American continent. The Cordovín winery titled this edition of the contest ‘Language and Wine by Origin’, with the idea of ​​joining the initiative of the Valley of the Language giving prominence to Spanish, of course, but also the wine and the landscapes of the surrounding vineyards. , in this case the Alto Najerilla.

The rules asked applicants that all short stories must include the word ‘origin’ and a maximum of 43 words, in reference to the principles of the Spanish language (San Millán), the Rioja name itself and even the component spirituality of wine related to religion: «What we want is for the writers to investigate the history of the region, the language and the wine with this game that, truly, satisfies us a lot because people from all over Spain participate, but also from many other South American countries. The winning short story is signed by Marco Orts Domínguez, a young lawyer from Barcelona who won accommodation with full board at the San Millán inn, a visit to the monasteries and 500 euros in wine. Second place (tasting in the winery and batch of wines of 250 euros) went to Alberto Montes Sánchez and third (tasting and batch of wines of 150 euros) to Ana María Abad García. The winning text will be printed on the label of Florentino Martínez’s Distercio, a special wine that the winery ages in Riojan oak from Manzanares.
