What is the Salvation Army

It is a Christian-based NGO, which was born from the Universal Church with a strong solidarity imprint. It is present in more than 150 countries.

Provides help to homeless people, families at risk and people who are in vulnerable situations. This evangelical organization, which is international, assists many people who come daily to the headquarters located on Godoy Cruz Street, looking for help. The institution works only with donations from the community.

The Salvation Army has been recognized on several occasions, especially for the interest that this group of volunteers has placed in people who live on the streets.

Between the years 2004-2006, the Army provided a shelter so that people who for different reasons found themselves on the streets (lack of work, theft or personal conflicts) could spend the night there, eat, bathe and rest, with the objective that the next day, the person could go out to look for a better future.

But then it closed and different aid programs for those most in need are maintained. The Salvation Army carries out its social action through donations that come from the community, the sale of used clothing and items, and the fee charged at the institution’s home for female students who come from other countries. and from the interior of the province.

After the pandemic, in the years 2022 and 2023, the Salvation Army delivered merchandise to families; But a few weeks ago they decided to resume the supply of food, attentive to the strong economic crisis that is being experienced and the cold. “This year we returned to the food plate because we saw the needs,” Jorge highlighted.

How to collaborate?

Something very important is the work of volunteers who cook and assist people who need solidarity.

They have a group of ladies, young people and children who carry out different activities.
