The Municipality of La Plata will close this Thursday afternoon San Martin Plaza, with the aim of guaranteeing the execution of the reconstruction works and avoiding inconveniences in the area. Thus, The iconic space will be fenced from 50 to 54 and from 6 to 7 and on Friday the same will be done on streets 6 and 7 between 50 and 54.

The Commune indicated days ago that the buses that circulate in the area would stop stopping on the square, on the occasion of the start of the work. In this way, it was then reported that passengers must choose to get off at any of the options before 54 or after 50, given that the limitation will only affect those located in the descending direction of 7th Avenue and those located in front of the Buenos Aires Legislature Palace will continue to operate as usual.

What will the new Plaza San Martín be like?

The reconstruction of Plaza San Martín includes the leveling of the sections of 6th Street and 7th Avenue between 51st and 53rd Avenues, allowing a pedestrian space, and the enhancement of the sector facing the Pasaje Dardo Rocha Cultural Center with the creation of an Art and Sculpture Walk that links it with the Museum of Contemporary Latin American Art (MACLA).

Local authorities will close the pedestrian crossing of Plaza San Martín to begin remodeling works

The works will require an investment of $3 billion and seek to restore its institutional character, promote commercial and tourist activity in the area and provide residents with a place for recreation. The works are part of a comprehensive initiative by the Municipality to revalue other important squares such as Italia, on 7th and 44th avenues, and La Rocha, on 7th and 60th avenues.

Relocation of street vending
