After the precautionary measure that prevented increases above inflation became void, Since July, prepaid companies can raise the values of their installments again without any control or limit.

Faced with this provision and, through a statement sent to its members, this Thursday, Medicus announced that the next increase will be 8% and will be applied in July.

The judicial agreement between the Government and the prepaid It occurred in the early morning of May 28, and the increase will no longer be influenced by the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This, however, does not mean that next month they must begin to return what was collected above inflation between January and May, in 12 installments.

The Medicus decision

“The health sector continues to suffer notable delays in installments, fees and values that are paid to providers, sanatoriums and professionals in general, putting the private medical care of millions of people at risk,” begins the letter sent by the provider to its affiliates.

Likewise, he emphasizes that Medicus continues to make the greatest efforts to mitigate the effects of inflation on the purchasing power of our associates in the midst of the delicate situation that the country is going through.

In that sense, they stressed that “the quotas were not updated in May and June, despite having recorded an inflation of approximately 15%”, to which is added that “the compensation programmed in 12 months for the difference generated between the variation of quota versus the CPI will be transformed into a credit that will become effective starting in July, being adjusted by the BNA deposit rate, as arises from the agreement reached in court.”

In this framework, the company recognized that “during the first months of the year the inflationary impact, as a result of the honesty of the economy and its relative prices, has been very high”, but insisted that “the delay, particularly in the health sector, is still “It has not been able to match the CPI if we consider a longer period in which the economy, and in particular the sector, was exposed to price controls.”

In this way, he determined that “With the intention of maintaining the highest medical quality and technological innovation, as well as continuing the improvement in benefit values for professionals and institutions, the cost of your July medical plan will be adjusted by 8.075%.”

At the same time, he revealed that “This last value will be the one considered to make the agreed discount”referring to the refund that must be made of the amount charged above the price variation between January and May.
