The sessions took place in 10 municipalities of Boyacá.

Tunja, June 6, 2024. (UACP). In commemoration of World Environment Day, the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development, under the leadership of Soraida Alicia Ruiz García, in coordination with the First Brigade of the National Army, carried out a massive tree planting day.

Through the ‘Living Mountain’ strategy, 20,000 native trees were planted in several municipalities in the region, including
Santa Rosa de Viterbo, Tuta, Cómbita, Cucaita, Turmequé, Tibaná, Chivatá, Cuítiva, Tópaga and Güicán de la Sierra.

“These municipalities have been prioritized due to the damage suffered during the forest fire season. The Boyacá Grande government has joined forces with local mayors to carry out reforestation in the most affected areas,” commented the Secretary of the Environment.

The official stated that the commitment was clear: plant more than 74,000 species of native trees in 37 affected municipalities, of which 35,000 have already been planted through this initiative.

In this way, Boyacá is positioned as a leader in the recovery of areas affected by forest fires in the country.

With teamwork as a driving force, life is reborn in the mountains of Boyacá.

“This is a joint effort that reflects our community’s commitment to preserving and protecting our natural environment for future generations,” said Ruiz García.
