La Rioja has an important legacy of its folklore that must be preserved and praised. The holidays are essential moments to show these rich resources and make them known, in this case for San Bernabé, in Logroño, and for the Day of the … Rioja throughout the region.
The program of the Logroño celebrations includes this Friday, at 7:30 p.m., the event ‘Anthology of the Jota del Ebro. Heritage unites us’ with more than thirty artists on the El Espolón promenade, and the Children’s Folk Festival of the Contradanza group , at 8:00 p.m. in the Plaza de San Bartolóme.
On Saturday, the VIII Children’s Folkloric Festival stands out in the Rioja capital, at 6:00 p.m., with a parade in which Danses de la Falla Marqués de Montortal (Valencia), Despertar el Ayer (Toledo), Rancho infantil de Fazenas de Almeirim ( Portugal) and the Logroño Dance Group. It will begin at the Town Hall and continue along Paseo de Dax, Avenida de La Paz, Muro de Cervantes, Portales, Sagasta, Muro de la Mata and El Espolón, where the festival will take place at 6:30 p.m.
At 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, the La Rioja Folklore Gala will take place in the Riojafórum auditorium, to benefit Corazones Integrados (tickets at 5 euros). This initiative is recovered after five years without being celebrated. It will have David Moreno as presenter and will bring together the three schools of the Government of La Rioja: rondalla, dulzaina and jotas; in addition to the three dance groups (Aires de La Rioja, Contradanza and the Logroño Dance Group.
It will include as a novelty the performance of the singer-songwriter Emiliano Valdeolivas, who will be performed by Gonzalo de Berceo, and the oldest text written in Spanish. The show ‘Chiquifolk’ prepared by the Jorbalán Choir with Corazones Integrados will also premiere, which represents a challenge for this association.
On the other hand, Kindergarten and Primary students from Rioja schools that are part of the ‘Los botoncitos’ project will participate in the event. They will perform the song ‘En la Hoja de la Noguera’ as a demonstration of the work of integration and social education in schools.
