The social leader and merchant Javier Condía Cárdenas was murdered last night in the La Guamalera village of Yopal, where some men arrived and without saying a word shot the community leader.

The victim was around 7:00 at night tending to a small china shop he owned, when, according to some people who were nearby, two men arrived on a motorcycle that was parked on the side of the road. . One of them got out and fired repeatedly at Condía, hitting his body at least five times, and then fled in an unknown direction.

The leader managed to be transferred alive to the Orinoquia Regional Hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he died. Paradoxically, the criminal attack occurred a few hours after the first security summit was held in Yopal, which precisely addressed the issue of insecurity in the section of the highway that connects Casanare with Boyacá through the Labranzagrande sector, which In recent weeks it has presented insecurity problems.

Javier Condía had immigrated many years ago with his family from Labranzagrande, to settle in the El Morro district, where he managed to become recognized as a community leader, delegate of Asojuntas and community director of the La Guamalera village.

Currently, the leader was promoting the adaptation of the tourist places that the El Morro village has, and was managing the repair of the road that leads to the Virgen de La Peña, a natural sanctuary that on weekends is visited by dozens of tourists who contribute to boost the economy of the sector.

The violent death of the community leader and merchant generates anxiety among the community because, according to the inhabitants, this region was affected by the presence of armed groups that were supposed to have been neutralized by the authorities.
