Camagüey does not give up on increasing the delivery of milk to the industry

CAMAGÜEY.- The province continues to commit to increasing the delivery of milk to the industry, although at the end of May it did not achieve the definitive takeoff that was expected, due to marked non-compliance by 4,198 producers and of them 1,792 that did not deliver a single liter. of vital food, of those planned in the 2024 contracting process.

The negative trend is appreciated. From January to May, the volumes collected from the current calendar were 11 million 158 thousand liters compared to 13 million 320 last year on the same date.

It is striking that there is no reaction to demand an increase in delivery, knowing that in each territory of the province people who show apathy or disinterest in their respective contributions to the national economy are known.

The prices paid to producers cannot be the reason: at 38 pesos, the maximum per liter, and 70 for those who overpay, said Rene Mola Valera, head of the milk collection department of the Camagüey Dairy Company.

This spring season that we are going through is the best for milk production, and it must be used to exceed the daily delivery to the industry, of more than 200 thousand liters, with the vision of getting closer to the figure of 360 thousand by the end. that has been reached during productive peaks.

We will have to review why defaulters are charged 114 pesos for each liter not delivered, because it is not a secret that by selling it in the informal market at 160-170 even, on some of the streets of the city, such as Industria, they requested to clients 200 pesos, they take advantage of it in their favor.

Children up to seven years old are guaranteed daily delivery of milk, but this is not the case for people on medical diets due to the ups and downs of production and, added to this, the delivery of acid milk to factories as a result of the damage to the centers. cold with electrical service.

Of the 8,023 producers committed to delivering more than 52 million liters, Guáimaro heads the negative list.
