Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez, president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH), checked in Cienfuegos the main investments to improve the water supply and reduce dependence on pumping from the national electrical system.

The leader confirmed the progress of the work on the pipeline in the Rancho Luna area, scheduled to conclude at the end of this month. Valued at more than four million pesos, this work will benefit nearly four thousand inhabitants and tourist facilities and will prevent the sending of tanker trucks (pipas) to those settlements, and in palanas to the Pasacaballo hotel.

He was also interested in the upcoming repair of the Paso Bonito conductor, for which the territory has the resources to replace the first 150 meters of the 800 that must be replaced.

During the visit to the San Antón, Quesada and Arimao pumping stations, he verified the progress in changing the energy matrix with the installation of solar panels in these systems.

In exchange with the highest authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Government and leaders and specialists of the sector, he called for the care, repair and maintenance of the generating sets (GE) in order to guarantee that in the midst of the current energy contingency there are no effects with the water service.

The head of the INRH explained that there have been problems in the country with a lack of spare parts to put damaged GE into operation and announced the arrival of batteries soon.

He also learned about the impact of the drought in Cienfuegos, with 21 supply sources affected, 12 of them completely, which influence the access of more than 18 thousand people to the water supply.
