Through a co-creation workshop, we sought to develop a joint work plan that allows us to continue strengthening this area and its communities.

Tunja, June 6, 2024. (UACP). In an effort to strengthen and consolidate the tourism sector of the department, the Vice Ministry of Tourism carried out the ‘Cocreation Workshop for the Construction of the Work Plan for the Tourism Sector of Boyacá’.

The meeting, held in Paipa, brought together more than 50 representatives of the tourism sector from different places in Boyacá, as well as presidents of the provincial tourism councils, representatives of the academy, the Tourism Police, SENA, Cotelco, the Institute of Promotion and Development of Boyacá (Ideboy) and the Secretary of Tourism of Boyacá.

The workshop linked participants based on a methodology that sought to capture ideas, experiences and knowledge to develop proposals that align with the destination management goals of the Vice Ministry of Tourism and the territories.

“The active participation and commitment of all the actors present are essential to build a solid and effective work plan. This workshop allowed us to listen to diverse voices and perspectives, which enriches our strategies and brings us closer to consolidating Boyacá as a tourist destination of first level,” commented Eduin Contreras, Secretary of Tourism of Boyacá.

In this first workshop, concrete actions were discussed and developed that will be implemented within a period of 30 months.

These proposals seek not only to improve tourism infrastructure and services, but also to promote sustainability and inclusion in the sector.

“The objective is to make Boyacá a tourist reference at a national and international level and, to achieve this, we need the joint effort of all those involved,” said Contreras.

Those attending the workshop highlighted the importance of coordination between different entities and sectors.

Collaboration between academia, local authorities and tourism organizations is a fundamental pillar for the success of the work plan.

“It is essential that we work together, that our actions are coordinated and that each proposal is aligned with the needs and potential of our department,” added the Secretary of Tourism.

The workshop concluded with a commitment from all parties to carry out the agreed actions, which allow them to be developed in the next 30 months, as well as to continue working on the methodology from their provinces, from a regional development perspective.

With this type of initiatives, Boyacá seeks to position itself as an outstanding tourist destination, which offers unique and high-quality experiences to its visitors.
