La Rioja became the epicenter of the “Route 40 Challenge”

As is customary in each of its editions, La Rioja was once again part of the traditional Rally Raid “Desafío Ruta 40”.

In the afternoon this Thursday, the provincial capital was transformed by the arrival of the competitors, who arrived after competing in the fourth and penultimate section of the competition, with the San Juan-La Rioja stage.

The competitors of each of the categories settled in the bivouac that is located on the beach of the Superdomo stadium, where motor sport fans managed to be face to face with their idols.

After spending the night in the provincial capital, the competition will continue this Friday morning, with the development of the fifth stage, La Rioja-Córdoba, which will have 218 km of connection and 519 km of competition.

Within this framework, it is expected that the first vehicles will arrive in the city of Córdoba at 12:00 and that the awards ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the Chateau Park.

The competition


This Thursday the fourth and penultimate stage of the “Desafío Ruta 40” Raid Rally took place, which was held between San Juan and La Rioja, with a special competition section of 412 km.

There, the Qatari Nasser Al Attiyah, two-time FIA ​​Raid Rally World Champion, managed to lead the competition in the section, relegating the Saudi Al Rajhi. Third are the Argentines Sebastián Halpern and Bernardo Graue.


On the other hand, Tosha Schareina won in Motorcycles, but was barely able to take 7 seconds off his teammate and GC leader, Ricky Brabec, who commands a 1.27 lead over the Spaniard.

In Quads, Manuel Andujar won again and is already dreaming of winning tomorrow in Córdoba, while in Rally2, the Frenchman Romain Dumontier stretches his dominance over Bradley Cox.
