According to the updated harvest estimates report from the Córdoba Grain Exchange, despite all the adversities during the 2023/2024 cycle, production volumes would grow significantly in the province
The campaign accumulated unfavorable planting conditions in 2022 – there were 2 Niñas and a third was entered -, again drought between mid-January and mid-February 2024, again almost zero rains in March in many areas, and the “hit” of the Leafhopper and Spiroplasma in corn.
Uneven economic result
Still, in terms of total tonnage, Córdoba is “saving its clothes.” With very shooting results from one area to another.
Another is the analysis that must be carried out when reviewing the economic results of each producer. Many will be left with numbers in the red or just barely touching the cost line, according to testimonies obtained in recent weeks among producers and technicians consulted by Agro Verdad.
