What “Institute City” is about and what works are starting for the Monumental stadium

The City Institute is already underway. The works masterplan that began a while ago continues to take steps at full speed. In times of crisis, where everyone cuts expenses, in Glory they double down.

And that is why the leadership led by Juan Manuel Cavagliatto no longer only thinks about works that are necessary “patches”, but rather works with a long-term mentality.

With a great vision of the future and a high dose of ambition, in Albirrojo they got to work to modernize the “Institute City”, a term that brings together the Monumental de Alta Córdoba with the La Agustina property in the Jorge Newbery neighborhood.

On that question, and several more, the president of the club spoke this Thursday in Glory World along with journalists Agustín Caretó and Hernán Laurino.

“I think of a club in 10 years. I will always be at the Institute, but I don’t think I will be president for as long. You have to give seriousness and continuity to the projects. And you have to give responsibility to the processes,” Cavagliatto remarked in his brand new office overlooking the court.

And he added: “We are convinced that we have begun to do very good things in La Agustina for the youth. I even think that I will not see the fruits of some issues as president. But I will be happy when I come to the audience with my son to enjoy them.”

In that sense, he stressed that “if we wanted to be a first-class and serious club, we had to start this process. And someone had to start it. This board of directors got to work. We work 24 hours a day. Here you can’t take an exam every Sunday when you think about a project. The fruits are going to arrive and we are going to put the Institute where we all want it to be.”

The new Monumental

When the Instituto fans return to the field, after the Copa América stoppage, they will not find the same stadium that they saw days ago against Gimnasia de La Plata.

If the works progress within the predetermined times, members who attend the stalls will be able to enjoy the new amenities that the Monumental will have.

“We are going to start now with the modernization of the stadium. We are working with a gastronomic company so that there is a kind of restaurant in the stalls. And we are looking forward to putting the seats in the stalls. I hope it is quick and soon to start modernizing this beautiful stadium that we have, but which was built many years ago,” explained Cavagliatto.

In this way, the stalls no longer have the wires that divide one sector from another and will have seats from end to end.

The ideal would be for them to be against Independiente, but if they don’t arrive for this match it will undoubtedly be in one of the next ones at home.

On the other hand, the president reported that “the work in which the lower stalls disappear will not be done now because we do not have the time. We have committed to the Professional League to widen the field. So at some point we are going to have to remove that lower stalls and bring the court to the Jujuy street side. And there will come the modernization of the preferential Diego Klimowicz. We have a nice project to make the field beautiful.”

Regarding the tasks to be carried out in the grandstand that faces Sucre, he indicated that the idea is to remove the wiring and put in an acrylic that improves vision: “We have the deadlines and a masterplan. During this break we are going to do some things, but for this we will have to wait. The modernization of the stalls is coming now in the short term. But when the two buildings being built in La Agustina are finished, we want to continue with the new works in Alta Córdoba.”

The quarry that grows

The “Institute City” also grows day by day with the works carried out in La Agustina. And there are several more in the pipeline for the short and medium term.

“The synthetic grass is coming for the property, we are going to try to ensure that there end up being two fields that have this type of grass,” said Cavagliatto.

In addition, he noted that “we want the building ready in August. But we don’t depend on ourselves, but on things coming in. Let the gyms come. Let some materials arrive. We really wanted to inaugurate it at the stop, but we didn’t get there because it is a very big project and there are things that are delayed. Anxiety is eating you up. The air conditioners are there, the furniture is already being assembled, we are close.”

The impressive work began in February 2023 with the idea of creating a three-story High Performance Sports Center for use by the professional soccer team.

And, in dialogue with this medium, the leader added: “I did not imagine that this would be created so quickly. But one always had an idea in his head regarding the club he wanted as a member and fan. “I joined a board of directors and a working group that accompanies me to create that Institute that I dreamed of.”

Later he considered that “some processes were advanced. If you see everything that happened in the Institute World in these three years we can write two or three books. When the results arrive sooner it is because things are being done well. And we will continue. I think of an institution 10 years from now, changed and modernized.”

Finally, Cavagliatto made it clear that he wants Gloria to return to being that great club of the 70s and 80s: “At that time, the stadium and the property were a source of pride for Córdoba. But everything takes time and money. We have had to take charge of a call that was in progress, but had to be paid for. When you want to be a serious club you have to have everything together. Today, the Institute owes nothing to anyone and fulfills its commitments. “We are fulfilling and changing the image of this club.”

And although the president did not speak about it, it emerged that one of the dreams behind this entire masterplan includes the construction of a three-story hotel in La Agustina so that the team can concentrate there. Bring doors, there are extra handles…
