The Ministry of Infrastructure, Water and Energy of the Government of San Juan began with the evaluation, of costs and work, to refunctionalize the downtown building that at some point housed what was Acción Social and with which they estimate to make million-dollar savings. Minister Fernando Perea himself was the one who confirmed HUARPE DIARY that “we are working on the project to refunctionalize it.”

The mythical building in which Acción Social operated, and which is located on Rivadavia Street, between Mendoza and Entre Ríos, in the Capital, in front of the Cathedral Church, is the objective that the Orreguista management seeks to refunctionalize to move different units that are currently distributed in properties that the Executive itself rents for that purpose.

With the aim of making savings that today cost millions, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Water and Energy began the project that will surely include a new electrical installation, the possibility of shoring up the structure that has not been occupied for many years, providing it with the necessary services and finally with the final light works to adapt the different areas that will be moved once finished.

The little that the Government of San Juan revealed is that the intention is that, once the evaluation is completed, work will begin on the first and second floors in the first instance. Once this first stage is finished, some offices will be moved to stop paying rent. The next stage, which would be to continue improving the third and fourth floors, will be financed with the millions saved by stopping renting the other properties.

The decision has been made and work has begun on it, although there are still no start dates, much less completion dates, but it is assured that in the short term the works will begin to optimize public spending in San Juan.

What will happen to the new bus terminal?

The Minister of Infrastructure, Fernando Perea, ruled out the continuity of the construction project of a new bus terminal that was announced in the administration. The official stated that “there is a terminal project that we see as somewhat economically unviable.” In this way, Perea ruined the possibility of the Province investing in the construction of a new terminal which, according to the previous administration, sought to move it a few blocks to decompress the area.

Furthermore, Perea indicated that “we are evaluating moving forward on the existing Terminal property, since according to our studies, no more than 20 long-distance buses arrive in San Juan per day, that is, what exists is sufficient. Yes, we have a lot of short distance and that is why we are working on a refunctionalization project aimed at this.”

He also pointed out that, “currently we have a sector in which the Gendarmerie is located, which is the central point of the land, which can be relocated. At that central point something can be worked on in double height, a kind of fan where everything referred to can be to the long-distance bus system. And in the existing terminal, continue with the same system for short-distance buses.

Regarding the dates when this work could begin, the official was very measured, but he did affirm that the intention is for it to “be there as soon as possible” and hinted that this statement seeks to have it available by 2025 at the latest. .
