House of Science and Progress

Guantánamo, June 7 (RHC) The University of Guantánamo received the Certified Category, after the exhaustive analysis of the National Accreditation Board in favor of greater quality in this teaching, which evaluated the comprehensive results of the so-called House of Science and Progress that on January 23 of next year will celebrate 45 years of foundation.
During the ceremony of awarding the high distinction, Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar, Vice Minister of University Education in Cuba, highlighted the center’s progress in perfecting the processes since 2017, when it reached the qualified category, and today it stands with a superior condition based on sustained progress in different indicators.
For her part, Dr. Osiris Aranda, rector of the University of Guantánamo, highlighted the results of this group that is committed to lines of economic, cultural and social research, business management, in addition to participation in 148 agreements at the national and 41 international.
During the event, outstanding professors were also recognized, as were the Department of Institutional Communication, University Extension, the Faculties of Early Childhood Education and Physical Culture, as well as the Municipal Centers of San Antonio del Sur and Baracoa.
Likewise, the representatives of the different institutional variables that were evaluated to grant the category of Certified University and the University Student Federation (FEU) received the honor for the active participation of the students.
On this occasion, the official certificate of courses evaluated as Certified was also delivered to the Bachelor’s Degrees in Law, Education in the specialty of Spanish-Literature and Accounting and Finance, for demonstrating the development of the quality levels established for university teaching.
The results that support the Guantanamo House of Higher Studies to receive the Certified category motivate greater efforts to improve educational processes, the link with entities and organizations, as well as contribute to the socioeconomic development of the territory.
