BUSINESS TRAINING FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS IN HAVANA AND CAMAGUEY

This 12-month project aims to help vulnerable groups in Havana and Camagüey increase their well-being by promoting entrepreneurial skills. This intervention directly benefits 512 people: a) 118 children, adolescents and young people from Havana, between 6 and 22 years old, from vulnerable communities, with high rates of overcrowding, violence, sexual work, drugs or crime; b) 394 people (295 women and 98 men) from Camagüey, 350 from urban areas and the rest from the rural areas of Altagracia and Finca Camagüey. The local counterpart, Compañía de Jesús, is a reference on the island and has previously worked with Manos Unidas on various projects that have been successful. The project seeks to ensure that men and women in vulnerable situations in Camagüey and Havana increase their opportunities for job improvement and improve their agricultural enterprises. On the other hand, the participation of young people and children in artistic activities that have a positive impact on their communities will be improved. The planned activities include holding various professional training workshops (hairdressing, crafts, manicure, textile manufacturing or business management), training young people in English or computer science, or working with children and adolescents in artistic activities (music, dance , paint, etc.). Likewise, entrepreneurship fairs and technical support will be held for farmers on their plots.
