In the mega operation carried out by the Chilean Investigative Police in Tarapacá, 146 people were inspected, of which 39 of them were in an irregular immigration situation, and another 4 foreigners were notified of current expulsion.
During the operation, a Colombian citizen was arrested for the flagrant crime of violating Law 20,000, related to drug trafficking, and two Venezuelan citizens for the flagrant crime of receiving.
The regional presidential delegate of Tarapacá, Daniel Quinteros, highlighted the work of the police and said “This type of operations allows us to improve the control and security of urban centers and advance the commitments of President Gabriel Boric, to have safe migration. , that it be orderly and that it be regular.
For his part, the Tarapacá regional head of the PDI, the Prefect Inspector Cristián Lobos, explained that the deployment is part of the powers granted to them by law and was also carried out in the regions of Arica and Parinacota, and Antofagasta, with the objective to identify and control foreigners who enter the national territory evading established border controls.
The operation involved 70 detectives, who were distributed in strategic sectors of Iquique, previously determined by the PDI Analysis Office in the region. This analytical approach allowed for a more efficient and focused intervention, demonstrating the commitment of the civil police to security and order in the country.
