The intense rains that have hit various municipalities of Magdalena in recent days have left at least 3,000 people affected in the department, especially in the town of Apure, and have put the municipalities of Fundación, Zona Bananera, Plato, The Bank and Salamis.

After the disaster that occurred in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Plato, relief agencies have gone to the scene to provide assistance and mitigate the damage caused by the floods. In addition to the town of Apure, other areas such as Ariguaní have also been affected by these floods, although fortunately no human losses have been reported due to the climatic events.

In Ariguaní, Magdalena, the consequences are palpable in the infrastructure and material assets of several communities. Sectors such as El Coquero Principal, Las Emelinas and La Florida have suffered significant damage due to flooding, evidencing the region’s vulnerability to extreme climate phenomena, which are only in their initial stage.

Faced with this situation, the affected communities are crying out for urgent action from municipal, departmental and national authorities to find long-term solutions that guarantee their safety and tranquility. It is imperative that preventive measures be taken to avoid flooding and mitigate the risks associated with the intense rains that the La Niña phenomenon will bring.

Therefore, a call is made for coordinated and effective action by local and regional authorities to protect the vulnerable population of Magdalena.
