Cucuta

Around noon this Friday, June 7, members of the indigenous guard in Catatumbo actually took over the roads and decided to block, intermittently, the road that connects Cúcuta with Tibú, arguing non-compliance by the national government with the agreement with the farmers of Catatumbo. They give a period of no more than 48 hours to be heard and receive solutions, otherwise they assure that this region will go into indefinite strike.

“We are in the Campo Dos district of the municipality of Tibú, carrying out a sit-in due to the non-compliance with the agreements of the Catatumbo Interlocution Table. Yesterday we were the spokespersons for the strike committee in the city of Bogotá, Some ministries left our chair empty. Today the table continues, but if there are no agreements and compliance on the part of the national government, we see the need to start de facto routes in the Catatumbo region,” said one of the leaders of the indigenous guard.

He highlighted that one of the important points agreed upon was framed in the food crisis, where the delivery of some markets was promised the first week of June, but now they are being informed that said aid will be delivered next month.

They demand the presence of the mayor of Tibú and the governor of Norte de Santanderso that they come closer for the remainder of today, Friday or tomorrow, Saturday, otherwise, this strike would begin on Sunday in this region of the country.
