President Javier Milei decided to be absent this Friday afternoon to a summit that he was going to hold with 19 representatives of the Islamic community in the Palermo mosque, upon learning of the presence of the Ambassador of Palestine, Alhalabi M. A. Riyadh.
The president was two blocks from the Islamic temple located on 120 Intendente Bullrich Avenue, when he learned of the presence of the Palestinian official at the meetingwhich made him return in his footsteps to go to the Casa Rosada.
The activity at the Islamic center had been organized by the Presidency and the chancellor, Diana Mondino, but it was not part of the official agenda.
The libertarian president had planned to arrive at the meeting around 10, but then there was an unexpected backtrack. Meanwhile, he was not part of the toast with journalists that took place at 1:00 p.m.
The head of state’s entourage said that Milei was in his office with “a lot of work and signing things.” In this framework, we must remember the strong alignment that the liberal president has had with Israel since the beginning of his mandate. This closeness was ratified a month ago, where he reiterated his “emphatic support” for that country and recognized “the right of States to defend themselves.”
