Cuba was re-elected in Geneva as Deputy Member of the Administrative Council of the International Labor Organization (ILO), reported Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in his X account.

The head of Cuban diplomacy highlighted that, with 193 votes in favor, the island was the country in the region that achieved the greatest support.

Rodríguez Parrilla assured that this election is a recognition of Cuba’s commitment to labor and union rights.

As a member of the executive body of the ILO, our country will actively participate in the decisions and policies of the organization, he noted.

The Board of Directors, composed of 56 full members and 66 deputies, meets three times a year and makes decisions on the organization’s policy.

Founding member of the ILO in 1919, Cuba has played an active role in the work of the organization dedicated to the promotion of social justice and internationally recognized human and labor rights.

The only tripartite agency of the United Nations, the ILO brings together governments, employers and workers from 187 member States to set labor standards, formulate policies and develop programs that promote decent work for all, women and men.
