Bullying prevention workshop reaches 6 thousand students

The last presentation of the workshop was held at the Víctor Domingo Silva School, which, with a training and participation approach, has visited more than thirty establishments, both in urban and rural areas, with the aim of raising awareness among students from first to sixth grade

Rosita Zepeda, social worker of the Education Department of the Gabriel González Videla Municipal Corporation, highlights the positive impact and willingness of the schools to carry out the workshops. “For the second consecutive year, the Department of Education is holding risk prevention workshops, raising awareness among our students, parents and educational communities in general, regarding the prevention of bullying.

To this end, to date, workshops have been held for more than 6,000 students in educational establishments, both urban and rural, aimed at basic cycles.”

With a strategy based on play and experiential experience, Enrique Encina Carvajal, in charge of the “Bullying A Bad Partner” workshop, seeks for students to develop skills and acquire educational values, in a space of participatory dialogue and teamwork. “This is a workshop that lasts two pedagogical hours, in which I tell a personal experience about bullying in schools.

It has a practical part, in which children, through games, learn and incorporate values associated with the prevention of bullying, such as tolerance, respect, empathy and courage when speaking about the issue of injustice. , inform the school, also warn some classmates about inappropriate topics. To date more than 6 thousand students have participated in the workshop. I am from here in the city of La Serena, I experienced the issue of harassment here in the city, therefore, the fact that the Municipal Corporation is developing this workshop is a tremendous source of pride for me.”

For María José de La Fuente, school coexistence manager at Colegio Víctor Domingo Silva, the workshop strengthens the prevention work carried out by the teams and the concept for the students. “For us it is super important to create a culture as a school of non-aggression, the peaceful resolution of conflicts and these workshops that the Corporation brings us, help us to continue working as a community and say that our Víctor Domingo Silva school does not have and It will not give rise to any type of aggression, any type of bullying, that is why it is important to receive these visits, which are the ones we most want to have in this school, which help us and will allow us later and in the future. to be able to have a school without bullying. We are also working in parallel as coexistence in workshops with the courses that are being requested from us in an emerging way, we work on prevention, mutual respect, empathy, peaceful resolution of conflicts, together with the head teachers, the management team, parents, representatives and the entire community, we have tried and we will continue working to improve every day.”

Workshop participant, Vicente Rojas, student at the Víctor Domingo Silva School, comments on his experience. “I liked it a lot and I want to say no to bullying, he is a bad partner. It should never be done at school, because that person may feel bad.” Rafaela Castillo, also a student, complements this trend. “I thought it was very good, I liked the games. “There is no need to bully because the other person is going to feel bad.”
