In the early hours of this Saturday, around 2 in the morning, a fire of large proportions affected the company Baressi, located at the intersection of Av. Rodríguez Peña and Maza, in the industrial zone of Godoy Cruz. Several 911 calls alerted about the flames, which led to the rapid mobilization of multiple fire crews.
Crews from the Central Fire Department, Volunteers from Godoy Cruz, Maipú and Guaymallén went to the scene to fight the fire. Thanks to their prompt intervention, they managed to put out the flames without any injuries.
At the time of fire, two watchmen were in charge of the company. One of them explained that the Baressi company is dedicated to recycling plastics, specifically polypropylene, which were stacked on wooden pallets in the back area of the property, in the open air. This material was the main one affected by the fire, with no damage caused to the company’s main facilities or nearby homes.
During the inspection after controlling the fire, firefighters found a bottle with approximately 500 cc of flammable liquid at the scene. This discovery raised suspicions about the possible intention of the accident. Prosecutor’s Office No. 3 intervened to investigate the causes of the fire and determine if it was a deliberate act.
