Rodríguez González indicated that, according to preliminary information, the victim had previously received threats and had some type of protection scheme from the National Protection Unit, although the specific details of the security measures assigned are unknown.
“We are finding out what type of protection he had, if he had been given a bulletproof vest or other items, but we still do not have clarity about that,” said the official.
Regarding those responsible, motives and other circumstances of the crime, the Secretary pointed out that it would be premature to make any statement at this time, and that it is necessary to wait for the progress of the investigations to know with certainty all the details of the case.
Regarding a pamphlet circulating on social networks where a group calling itself Autodefensas Gaitanistas claims responsibility for the murder, Rodríguez González expressed that the authorities are already investigating the veracity or otherwise of that statement.
“Lately we have seen that some groups are awarded actions of this type, but then it is found that they have no relationship with the events,” he explained.
The Secretary called on the National Protection Unit to take urgent measures against other people who have received threats against their lives in the region.
He also highlighted the availability of the Casanare Police Commander to deploy all the necessary resources in order to provide protection to those who are at risk.
