Given the intense frontal system that is forecast for this weekend, in which 40 mm of water is expected to fall, the Municipality of Viña del Mar activated the Contingency Plan for a Meteorological event in order to address possible conditions in the city. , especially in the sectors affected by the February fire.

Thus, on Tuesday a Communal Risk and Disaster Management Committee (COGRID) was held to be able to gather information about the upcoming frontal system and plan the response to the needs required in the territory.

In this sense, 33 conflict points were identified through the information provided by the teams of the Community Development Directorate (DIDECO), the Camp Office, Risk and Disaster Management (GRD), which has guided the delivery of polyethylene and river sandbags that began this Wednesday and will end tomorrow, Saturday.

The director of DIDECO, Camila Estay, He reported that “We are preparing for this bad weather front, carrying out preventive patrols to be able to make visible the spaces where they need to finish their constructions, where they need to have polyethylene and other materials to guarantee they do not suffer any damage during this emergency.”

He added that protective materials are being distributed and “We are in constant contact with the different leaderships to be able to quickly respond to any need during the emergency through our DIDECO teams but also with Risk and Disaster Management.”

Patrols

Starting today, Friday, municipal teams will be linked and there will be work shifts, especially with attention to the area affected by the fire.

Currently, municipal officials are already fully deployed in the territory, together with Operations and Services, Citizen Security, Communal Inspection, GRD and DIDECO, carrying out links and delivery of elements so that residents adopt protection measures against the approaching frontal system. .

There will also be direct coordination with the Technical Board of the Presidential Delegation, Senapred, Seremis and Armada.

Regarding the commune in general, Camila Estay explained that “We continue with the pruning work, cleaning rainwater drains and gutters. “It is very important to prepare and be able to attend to various situations before the bad weather front comes,” he pointed out.
