What happened to Wilson the dog?
During Operation “Hope”, carried out by the National Army and relief agencies, the dog Wilson was lost and was never seen again. Even when the Mucutuy brothers were found, there was no trace of the canine.
After the rescue of the minors, some members of the National Army continued looking for wilson who had become one of the heroes of Operation “Hope”. Howevertheir efforts were in vain and the dog was not found.
Following their disappearance, speculation arose that Wilson may have found the children and remained with them. Nevertheless, Lesly, the oldest of the four siblings, revealed that they never had contact with the dog or saw it.
“The survivor interviewed said that, during the 39 days they were confined in the jungle, they saw different animals such as tapirs, snakes and a large turtle. According to her story, there was no encounter with other people during their journey and they also did not have contact with any canines,” Civil Aeronautics said at the time.
