The commander of the Ibagué Metropolitan Police, Diego Mora, explained that this restriction on mobility will be implemented this year. to allow citizens to enjoy the festivities in this road corridor with peace of mind, especially in the parades on June 23 and 30.

“What is always looked at within the regulations are the operating hours of public establishments and some mobility restrictions in certain sectors. This year, in both parades, both lanes of Carrera Quinta will be closed to guarantee mobility and allow people to enjoy the parade peacefully,” said Mora.

In addition, the Metropolitan Police will have reinforced security for upcoming events. “We will have approximately 600 additional agents from the Police Department“, and we, from the Metropolitan Police, will provide more than 400 officers, thus adding a total of more than a thousand agents dedicated exclusively to guaranteeing the security of the events, without neglecting regular surveillance throughout the city,” Mora added.

For her part, the mayor of Ibagué, Johanna Aranda, announced that the use of cornstarch or foam will not be allowed during the June folklore festivals. This measure aims to prevent disorder and cases of intolerance that could arise during the celebrations.
