The Colombian National Team beat the United States 1-5 in a friendly played in Maryland, prior to what will be their participation in the 2024 Copa América.
The Tricolor extended its undefeated record and has already reached 22 games without losing, 19 of these games belong to the era of Néstor Lorenzo as Technical Director of the team.
Here we review one by one of the Colombian players in the game against the United States:
Camilo Vargas: He didn’t have any big challenges in the game, maybe he could have done a little more in the United States goal, but he made a good presentation, his serve gave the Colombian team a good start.
Daniel Muñoz: He started the play for the first goal from the right, played for Matheus Uribe and then the play ended in Arias’ goal. He always showed importance for his side towards the attack, in defense he did not have any major problems.
Davinson Sanchez: He confirmed his good season with Galatasaray with whom he became champion, the defender had a spectacular finish on the line to avoid Balogun’s goal and had an outstanding game overall.
Jhon Lucumi: In defense he did not have a major problem, it was important for the fifth goal recovering the ball that Quintero later made clear for Sinisterra
Johan Mojica: He had an outstanding game, without any major problems on defense and adding when he could on offense.
Jefferson Lerma: He was one of the most outstanding, especially in defensive matters. He responded again with his responsibilities in marking and in offense he was fundamental, winning the aerial duel so that Borré later defined a bicycle kick for the second.
Matheus Uribe: He is one of the most discussed currently, but in this match he demonstrated his category, in addition to his work on the scoreboard, he demonstrated his deployment to go on the attack and he was one of the most insistent on the attack, especially in the first half.
James Rodriguez: His performance was not spectacular as in other days, but he played a good game, the ’10’ was decisive in the play to open the scoring with a pass between the lines that later became the Colombians’ first goal. In a couple of balls, James showed his quality with the Colombian National Team shirt.
John Arias: He scored the first goal of the game, defining when his shooting angle was closest, he was seen to be very active on the right and creating many problems for the American defense.
Luis Diaz: He had a clear opportunity to score, but he sent it through the roof almost in front of the goal, on the left he was very dangerous with his dribbling and speed.
Santos Borré: A superb Chilean goal was scored taking advantage of Lerma’s header pass inside the area, as always demonstrated by his sacrifice on the attacking front.
Richard Rios: He entered for Matheus Uribe and did so at the level of those who claim his ownership, he was the author of the Colombians’ third goal, after a great play by Luis Sinisterra.
John Duran,: He entered through Borré and was important more in terms of branding than in those he must attend to as a scorer to earn a place in the National Team.
Jorge Carrascal: He replaced Arias and was the author of the Tricolor’s fourth goal after a great assist from Juan Fernando Quintero.
Luis Sinisterra: He sealed Colombia’s 1-5 victory against the United States and was part of the play for Ríos’ goal where he provided the assist.
‘JuanFer’ Quintero: His performance was fundamental in the finishing of the game, after entering with twenty minutes left he gave two assists, one for Carrascal and another for Sinisterra.
Kevin Castano: He barely played the final minutes of the match.
