The journalist made a controversial comparison when referring to political leaders, specifically mentioning the former Secretary of Internal Trade, Guillermo Moreno.
“Moreno should be in La Rioja, Catamarca, if not in prison,” Canaletti declared live, which immediately generated a wave of criticism for his lack of tact and respect towards the aforementioned provinces.
Canaletti’s comment came just after Guillermo Moreno led a massive event at the Ferro stadium the night before. The event had a large presence of followers and marked a significant moment in Moreno’s political career.
Canaletti’s words were seen as an attempt to discredit the political leader, but the comparison with La Rioja and Catamarca was widely considered inappropriate and offensive, both for the inhabitants of those provinces and for the audience in general.
